Are you interested in applying for a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship (ECF), tenable in the Department of History at the University of Warwick?
The Department is keen to encourage new research and support postdoctoral projects; potential applicants for this scheme are always welcome to approach us.
In preparation for a possible bid, we recommend that each candidate considers:
• The eligibility criteria and application procedures outlined on the Leverhulme Trust website;
• How your research and teaching plans fit with the Department’s profile;
• Which member(s) of the Department’s academic staff that would be particularly interested in the work proposed, with a view to seeking their advice and endorsement ahead of submission;
• The highly competitive nature of this process and the small number of applications the Department will be able to endorse;
• Other possible funding schemes where Warwick could act as the host institution.
For the 2016 round, the internal Leverhulme ECF selection process will run as follows:
• Applications must reach both the Departmental Administrator, Mr Robert Horton, and the Director of Research, Professor Mark Philp (R.S.Horton@warwick.ac.uk; Mark.Philp@warwick.ac.uk), by no later than midnight on Thursday 6th January 2016. Submissions must include:
• A document including all application information required by the Leverhulme Trust, completed as far as is possible (see the ‘Scheme Leaflet’ available on the Leverhulme Trust website);
• A one-page outline of an undergraduate second-year module, based on your field of research, that could be taught in the second year of the Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship;
• Your academic CV with clear contact details;
• Two academic references. Please note that the Leverhulme Trust has the following requirements:
“No more than one referee should be from the proposed host institution and no more than one should be from the institution where you obtained your doctorate. The Head of Department from your proposed host institution may not act as a referee.”
• Endorsement by a member of the Warwick History Department academic staff.
• All applicants will be emailed about the outcome as soon as possible after the submission date. Given the likely strength of the field and the cost implications, this will be a difficult decision based on consideration of a wide range of factors.
• Those candidates that the department wishes to put forward will be asked to send their documentation to the University’s Research and Impact Services (RIS) with immediate effect. RIS colleagues will be able to assist with the final preparations for the online application, which must be submitted online to the Leverhulme Trust by 4pm on the 10th March 2016.
